PixelOptics defines static lenses as those having one or more areas of “fixed” focus through the lens, such as close-up, intermediate and/or distance vision. Virtually all lenses currently made are static lenses, and to date they have performed extremely well for correcting a variety of vision problems for millions of eyeglass wearers worldwide.

Static lens design can be considered the first evolution of eyeglass lens development with advances in technology continually improving the range and clarity of focus for both single vision and multifocal lenses. Lens designs of the future, such as electro-active lenses, represent the next generation in spectacle lens design and performance, with dynamic characteristics that enable interactive, “intelligent” focus.

The first PixelOptics product offering, launched in October 2008, is the atLast!™ Enhanced Multifocal, a fixed-focus “static” lens made with composite lens design technology to give bifocal wearers the wide, spacious intermediate vision missing in today’s bifocal, trifocal and progressive lenses. atLast! lenses incorporate an unprecedented combination of advanced lens technologies, resulting in ten-times the close-up and intermediate vision compared to a bifocal of comparable power. atlast! Enhanced Multifocals are not progressives or blended bifocals, but a proprietary new lens design that is targeted at lined multifocal wearers.
